Shinde Chatri

Shinde Chatri is a memorial constructed in memory of Mahadji Shinde who served as commander-in-chief of the Maratha army under the Peshwa rule by Madhavrao Scindia-I. Located in Pune, this memorial is a marvelous piece of architecture and reminds of the glorious history of the Maratha's. A must visit if you are in Pune.

Chalukyan Heritage - Badami

Badami (Karnataka) served as a capital for the Chalukya empire in the period from 5th century AD to 8th century AD. It was here at Badami the Indian temple architecture developed and flourished. Along with Badami, the Chalukyan built temples at Aihole and Pattadkal.  

First in the series of three posts, following are some photographs of the wonderful temples that Chalukyan kings commissioned.
